Grigorievsk Gorge

Grigorievsk Gorge (Kyrgyz name Chon Ak-Suu) is located on the northern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake, 60 kilometers from Cholpon-Ata city near the village of Grigorievka. The valley of Chon-Ak-Suu descends to Issyk-Kul from the Kungei Ala-Too mountain range. The length of the gorge is 35 km

Grigorievsk Gorge is considered as one of the most famous part of Issyk-Kul. Healing and saturated air, green mountain slopes covered with Tien-Shan firs, noise of mountain rivers, high-mountain lakes, alpine meadows, picturesque mountain landscapes are the reason of attraction of tourists to Issyk-Kul. Here you can see mountain goats and argali, deer and wild boars, eagles and golden eagles.

On the tops of the gorge, there is a high mountain lake, and two beautiful snow tops rise above it: the peak of Kum-Bel (4200 m.) and the peak of Eshenbulak (4647 m.).

In 20 km to the west of the Grigoryevsky gorge there is another popular- Semenov Gorge, named after one of the first explorers of these places - the Russian scientist-geographer, who studied the Tien Shan, Semenov P. -Tien-Shan (50-60th years of the XIX century).

In both of the gorge, in the summer times, you can find traditional Yurts, where you can try national Kyrgyz cuisine. Also, you can have a ride on horses, listen some national music, and drink kumis.
